Business card dimensions in pixels

The standard US business card is 3.5 × 2 inches. At 300 DPI that is 1,050 × 600 px, the size most printers ask for. At 600 DPI it is 2,100 × 1,200 px, which is sometimes requested when the design has very small text or fine line work. For on-screen use, such as an email signature or website mockup, 336 × 192 px (96 DPI) shows a card at its physical size.

Bleed and safe zone at 300 DPI

Printers typically want artwork that extends past the trim line, commonly 0.125 in on each side. For a 3.5 × 2 in card that makes a 3.75 × 2.25 in file, or 1,125 × 675 px at 300 DPI.

Keep logos and text inside a safe zone, commonly 0.125 in inside the trim edge. That is a 3.25 × 1.75 in area, or 975 × 525 px at 300 DPI. Cutting is never perfectly exact, so anything outside the safe zone can end up too close to the edge.

These bleed and safe-zone values are common conventions, not universal rules. Download the template from your printer and use its numbers if they differ.

Other business card sizes

Outside the US, 85 × 55 mm (EU) and 91 × 55 mm (Japan) are common. You can convert those with the Quick picks tab in the converter above, which includes both.
